TRAVEL ALERT
Kingfisher airlines is experiencing financial problems with many of its fleet grounded say reports including ones from CNN. I hope this good airline solves its problems but meanwhile I recommend caution if you are thinking of booking with this airline.
UK <> Thailand direct.
All depart from London Heathrow (LHR) terminal 3 and fly to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. Connecting? Thai has an extensive network of connections in it's home country whilst EVA partner with Bangkok Air.
Thai Airways International![]() Logo Links to Website
Thai Airways International currently fly twice daily between Bangkok (lunchtime & midnight) and London (lunchtime & evening). Although modernisation of the interior of the current fleet is promised as well as new aircraft, the route is served by B747's with big-screen in-flight rather than seat-back. Service is superb in all cabins. The flights are 3 class (economy, business & 1st). 1st is exceptional. This link will take you to my YouTube for Thai.

Eva Air currently fly daily between Bangkok (lunchtime) and London (evening). They use B777 equiped with seat-back in-flight entertainment. Cabin service is fairly good in all 3 classes (economy, premium economy & business). My experience is that the cabin of choice is the premium economy with its comfortable 2-4-2 configuration. I did not find business class to be amongst the best.

UK <> Thailand Via a Hub
It used to be that using a Hub outside of the UK was primarily for those of us that flew from regional airports. However the prices are such that these options more and more attractive.
Below you will find airlines that my friends and I have flown with or shown interest in flying with. All fly via their HUB and then on to Bangkok, the only exception to this is if you were to use the Manchester to Singapore service that now stops in Frankfurt. Some, namely Emirates, Etihad, Qatar, Lufthansa, KLM and Air France have extremely good services from UK Regional airports where as Oman, Gulf, Kingfisher and China Airlines only fly from London's Heathrow whilst Air Asia X only flies from London's Gatwick.
Should you be using one of these airlines you may find it beneficial to have a look at the airports you will hub at.
You can click HERE to go to the Al's Airports page.
Your experience and input will make this better so please keep us updated using the Contact Al page.

Oman Air![]() Logo links to website
One of the smallest gulf carriers and, in my opinion, one of the best. Oman offer a 3 level service, economy, business & 1st but be sure to check what services are on your flight. Their business class is as good as it gets.
You can route Bangkok Suvarnabhumi to & from London Heathrow via their hub as Muscat. Possibly the biggest drawback is the quite early morning start from Bangkok which makes it pretty much impossible to fly from a regional airport the same morning. Kingfisher Airlines ALERT![]() Logo links to website
One of India's 3 international airlines who code-share with BA and will join the one world alliance in 2012. You can route Bangkok Suvarnabhumi to London Heathrow via Mumbai and at least in theory if you don't mind a mega wait, via Delhi. Kingfisher is a full-service airline and looks to ensure a high level of quality and service on it's flights. They offer a 2 level service, 1st and Kingfisher but be sure to check what services are on your flight, currently the Bangkok to & from Mumbai is Kingfisher only. Food and drink service is excellent on Kingfisher but mind your photo taking does not incur the wrath of the cabin staff. As with Oman, the biggest drawback is the early departure time from Bangkok making same day connections from Thai domestic unrealistic.

Great if you want to tag a few days on in Singapore or you could travel from Singapore to Thailand by train! The last time I flew Singapore the service and flight was excellent but that is a while ago so I would love an update.

Air Asia offer a no frills service now out of London Gatwick. Take your own reading / music distractions for the flight to Kuala Lumpur as none are provided in Economy. Neither is food and drink but you can but it. Hub is at the LCC terminal Kuala Lumpur which itself is pretty frill free. The good point is that each flight is a complete sector so you don't get penalised for not booking a round trip. Great if you want to tag a few days on in Malaysia.

UK Regional Services
If you are not at a UK or European long-haul departure point or simply for cost saving reasons you may need to get there. BMI and BMI baby are star alliance and BA is one world. Being part of an alliance should mean you can book right through from or to a regional airport.
Flybe, easyJet and Ryanair should be considered point to point carriers. This means that if for what ever the reason you miss a connection they will not be responsible and booking through is usually not on the cards. The photo's provide links to the airlines websites.
